Avtar Singh Sandhu 'Pash' (9 September 1950 - 23 March 1988)
was born in a middle class peasant family in village Talwandi
Salem, distt. Jallandhar (Punjab). His father Sohan Singh Sandhu,
who was a soldier, used to compose poetry. Pash is one of the major
poets of Naxalite Movement. In 1972 he started a magazine named 'Siar'
and in 1973 founded 'Punjabi Sahit Te Sabhiachar Manch. His poetic
works are: Loh Katha (1971), Uddade Bazan Magar (1974), Saade Samian
Vich (1978), Khilre Hoey Varkey (1989, posthumously).
ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ 'ਪਾਸ਼' (੯ ਸਤੰਬਰ ੧੯੫੦-੨੩ ਮਾਰਚ ੧੯੮੮) ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਿੰਡ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸਲੇਮ, ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਜਲੰਧਰ
(ਪੰਜਾਬ) ਵਿਚ ਇੱਕ ਮੱਧਵਰਗੀ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ।ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੋਹਣ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ
ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਸੀ । ਪਾਸ਼ ਜੁਝਾਰੂ ਲਹਿਰ 'ਨਕਸਲਬਾੜੀ' ਦੇ ਉੱਘੇ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੈ ।
੧੯੭੨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ "ਸਿਆੜ" ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਚਾ ਕੱਢਿਆ।੧੯੭੩ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਤੇ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਮੰਚ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ
ਕੀਤੀ।ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਵਿ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ 'ਲੋਹ ਕਥਾ' (੧੯੭੧), 'ਉੱਡਦੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਮਗਰ' (੧੯੭੪), 'ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ'(੧੯੭੮) ਅਤੇ
'ਖਿਲਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਰਕੇ' (ਮੌਤ ਉੱਪਰੰਤ, 1989) ।
