Sukhwinder Amrit is a Punjabi poetess. She was born at village Sadarpura. She started writing poetry in her childhood. One day her mother came across her note-book of songs. The result was that her note-book was burnt and she was beaten bitterly. She was married at the age of seventeen, then she was in ninth class. The atmosphere at her in-laws house was not different. But she was born to prove something and she took her husband Amarjit in confidence with her love and restarted her study and got her M.A. degree.
ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਵਿਤਰੀ ਹੈ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਪਿੰਡ ਸਦਰਪੁਰਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਿਤਾਵਾਂ ਲਿਖਣ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਸੀ । ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਉਹਦੇ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਪੀ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਆ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਕਾਪੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਮਾਰ ਪਈ ।ਉਸਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੇ ੧੭ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸਹੁਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵੀ ਪੇਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਹੌਲੀ ਹੌਲੀ ਉਹਨੇ,ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਾਥੀ (ਅਮਰਜੀਤ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ ਤੇ ਐਮ.ਏ. ਤੱਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ।
