Habib Jalib
Habib Jalib (24 March 1928-March 12, 1993) was born in village Miani Afghana in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. He was a revolutionary poet who opposed martial law, authoritarianism and state oppression. His first collection of Urdu poems Barg-e-Awara was published in 1957. He wrote in plain language, adopted a simple style and addressed common people and issues. He wrote nine books of Urdu Poetry and a few poems in Punjabi.
