Faiz Ahmed Faiz
Faiz Ahmed Faiz (1911-1984) was born in Kala Kader near Sialkot (Pakistan). He obtained M.A. degree in English & Arabic. Faiz Ahmed Faiz started his career as lecturer in English at M. A. O. College, Amritsar in 1935. He worked to promote communism in Pakistan in 1950s &1960s. He was arrested in 1951 &1958. Faiz Ahmed Faiz uses romanticism to propagate revolutionary ideas. He lends voice to the down trodden people. Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poetry touches mind & brain and compels you to think. His poetry is full of agony but keeps you optimistic. His famous poetical works include Naqsh-e-Faryadi, Dast-e-Saba, Zindan Nama, Dast-e-Tah-e-Sung, Sar-e-Wadi-e-Sina, Shaam-e-Shehar-e-Yaaraan, Mere Dil Mere Musafir and Ghubar-e-Ayyam.Faiz has written afew poems in Punjabi.
